Manchester United and Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes broke a 24-year-old record held by England legend David Beckham, with his assist in Manchester United 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid. Atletico Madrid took an early first-half lead thanks to Joao Felix who nodded in a cross from the left by Lenan Lodi.
Bruno Fernandes Breaks Beckham’s Record
But with 10 minutes left to play Manchester United equalized after Bruno Fernandes set up substitute Anthony Elanga who slotted past Jan Oblak. And following Elanga’s goal, Fernandes became the first player in Champions League history to assist in six consecutive appearances while playing for an English club, breaking the record held by Beckham (for Man United) since 1998.

Fernandes has now taken his assist tally to 14 in 34 games in all competitions for Manchester United this season. The 27-year-old joined the English Premier League side from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for a fee reportedly worth up to €80 million £67.6 million.
