Barcelona Star Detained for Choice of Hairstyle

Former Nigerian and Ajax player Tijani Babangida’s brother has been reported detained in Kaduna. Tijani Babangida’s brother who played for Barcelona goes by the name Haruna Babangida.

The Barcelona former player who is the younger brother of Tijani has expressed his disappointment over how a judge in Kaduna treated him when he took a case to him.

According to him, he said the judge ordered for his head to be shaved in court. Haruna played for Barca from 1998 and 2004, he played a total of 110 games for Barcelona Team B and scored 42 goals.

According to the statement made by the 38-year-old, he said he went to court to make a complaint about a fraud. And while appearing in front of the judge, Justice Nuhu Falalu, the judge questioned his hairstyle and was insulted by the judge.

Haruna Babangida explained that he was embarrassed by the judge inside the court and was also ordered to be detained until his hair was shaved. In his letter sent to the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Kaduna, the former Barcelona and Shooting Stars’ player has asked for justice on the case.

Haruna said: “Sir, I only reported a case of fraud i.e., 419 before the Court, but the said judge ordered and I was detained in a cell and not only that, my hair was cut off in front of everyone in the court room and equally assaulted simply because I only appeared in my professional training outfit as a professional footballer before the court.”

He also said: “Thus, the said act of Judge Nuhu Falalu of Sharia Court, Magajin Gari, Kaduna has greatly damaged my personal character when he called me names as useless/rascal and stupid in public, and I know that have spent my life and talent responsibly.”
