Catalan Derby: Barca Hopeful for Victory Against Espanyol
All eyes will be on Camp Nou when Barcelona and Espanyol face each other in the Catalan derby. Barca will face a difficult side after beating Villareal 4-1 to end their two games winless run, they will be hosting local rivals Espanyol in a must-win clash. They are likely to go all guns blazing at their local rivals.
Quique Setien’s troops proved their worth in a 4-1 win over Villarreal, but that did not help them melt Real Madrid’s advantage in the standings as Real Madrid also won their own game to maintain the top place position. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Argentine forward Lionel Messi, he was unlike no to find the back of the net against Villarreal, but he was able to provide two assists which helped his team won the game.
The likes of Dembele, Todibo, Umtiti, and de Jong remain in the recovery room for the hosts. Los Periquitos, on the other hand, suffered yet another disappointing defeat at the weekend, with Leganes ruining their survival hopes. Seeing that Jonathan Calleri misses the Barca game through suspension, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. The visitors as always won’t be soft on the Catalan derby.
