The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), on Tuesday, disclosed that its men at the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport intercepted $8.6 million concealed inside a bus belonging to the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) at the tarmac section of the airport, preparing to be smuggled out of the country without proper declaration. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has revealed plans by the federal government to speedily recruit more soldiers to tackle the worsening insecurity in the country. The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, on Tuesday said it has not suspended visa issuance to Nigerians due to the coronavirus. The Press Officer, Embassy of China, Sun Saixiong, explained that the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian, only advised those who wished to travel to China “not to be in a rush if the trip was not urgent.” The diplomat said the government had reached out to about 60 Nigerians living in Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak. A raging inferno which broke out on Tuesday morning at Akala express road in Elebu area of Ibadan has burnt some houses and shops within the community. The inferno which started in the early hours on Tuesday was said to have started from one of the shops along the roadside.
