Arnaut Danjuma scored twice to help his Spanish La Liga to side Villarreal secure their place in the Champions League last 16 as Group F runners-up after a comfortable 3-2 win over Italian top side Atalanta in Bergamo. Arnaut Danjuma gave the visitors a third-minute lead before Etienne Capoue doubled the lead three minutes before the half-time break. Danjuma later completed his brace six minutes into the second half to score 3-0.

Ruslan Malinovskyi and Duvan Zapata responded for Atalanta, who could not earn the victory they required. As runners-up, Villarreal will be one of the eight unseeded sides in Monday’s draw, while Atalanta will enter the Europa League knockout round play-off draw.
Both European draws take place on Monday 13 December from 11:00 GMT in Nyon, Switzerland. Unai Emery’s Villarreal only needed a point to join group winners Manchester United who played out a 1-1 draw against Young Boys in the knockout stage.
Villarreal top Atalanta with three points thanks to Arnaut Danjuma’s brace and Etienne Capoue’s goal. Atalanta will continue their title chase in the Europa League alongside Barcelona, F.C Porto, Dortmund, among clubs who also fell to the Europa League.
