Abuja is a beautiful city and the eighth-largest city in Nigeria, with lots of historical sites, event places, Gardens, among others. All these make moving around Abuja more fun and lively. If you want your movement within and outside Abuja to be at affordable convenience and with style, then there’s a need to rent a car. Renting a car can give you a massive edge over having to pay a regular taxi, or waiting for public transportation whenever you want to visit a place that is not of walkable distance.
Renting a car also has its own do’s and don’ts, and to avoid the challenges associated with renting a car there are some notable things to consider before renting/hiring a car. In an interview with Abuja residents and visitors, they share their views on things the lookout for before renting a car. Consider their interesting views as cheat-sheets for things to note before renting a car. I will be sharing their opinion on this matter in the course of the article.
Starting with Miss Faith
Miss Faith works with a private company in Central Area, she said; “I look out for the state of the car to determine if it’s strong enough to take me to where I’m going. Secondly, the qualities of the driver which entails his personality, experience, interpersonal skill, et cetera. Thirdly, I confirm from the company’s customer service unit to know if there are discounts on the rental. Thirdly, I check the duration or existence of the Car rental company to know how legitimate the company is for safety purposes”.
With Mr. Kayode
Mr. Kayode is new in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. In his remarks, he stated that “I look at the beauty of the car, the way I view a car from outside is the way I feel when I’m inside it. The comforts of the seat also matter to me and the workability of the AC too. finally I just like clean cars though I think it should be the regular thing with every rider.”
Moving forward with Samuel
An IT student also working in Central Area, he said ” Well apart from the rental cost which must be reasonably okay, I will consider the rating of the car rental company i:e the company must have to be on the top of the list of best rental companies available. Secondary, I will make sure the car is not manageable but good with AC in perfect condition. I will also find out what other customers have said about the company and then make inquiries about how secure the company is. Finally, I will check if the company’s area of coverage covers the places I will be going to.
With Mr. Victor
Mr. Victor is a freelance software developer, he said “First and foremost I will look out for the Reliability of the company to know if they keep to time and keep their words too. Then I will consider their drivers’ versatility to make sure they know the city and its road network pretty well so as to ease navigation stress. Then I will consider the type of car that is available for renting and its comfortability. Finally, I will check the pricing and make sure it is affordable.
With Miss Klara
Miss Klara is the Head of Operations in a reputable organization located in Abuja Nigeria. She said, ” It’s simple, the car has to be fine, I like fine cars and if a car is not fine it’s definitely not for me to rent.”
Finally, talking with Mr. Uzorchukwu
A typical African man who tends to travel a lot with his family for holidays and business purposes, he said; “I know a lot about you are asking. Things I consider before renting a car? Truth be told, there are a limited number of things I hate doing and renting a car is one of them. Since I travel full time it’s inevitable that I have to hire or rent a car to move around the city I visit. I have traveled to over 15 countries in the world and across 5 continents. The number of cars I have rented is really uncountable. On the cause of my travel, anytime I think about renting a car I moan and groan in anticipation of setting up another car rental booking.”
He further added that “Coming in term with the unavoidable necessity of renting a car I have come up with things I look out for before renting a car. They include, not leaving the car inspection to chance, fighting for rates, deciding on the kind of car I want to rent at a particular time, booking my trip in advance, avoidance of airport surcharges and Comparing prices with other Competitors among others.”
Note:
During the course of the interview, a passerby who wants to remain anonymous made a statement that she expects government guidance with the help of riders and other platforms to put as well as label any recalled car off-road and ensure its implementation until the rental company is able to fix the said car.
Overall distinctive views of the interviewed from Aperental staff, definitely goes a long way to educate and inform car rental customers on the necessary things to look out for based on their experiences. Where these are the opinions of people who patronize rental companies, I will be sharing my professional advice on what to look out for before renting a car in the next part of the article. You don’t want to miss it.
