If you have to visit a new world, then you should visit the Northwestern part of Nigeria. Jigawa State, nicknamed the ‘New World,’ is one of the northwestern states in Nigeria. The state’s capital is Dutse. The state has Kano and Katsina State as borders to the west, Bauchi State to the east and Yobe State to the northeast. It also has an International border with Zinder region in the Republic of Niger. Jigawa is a wide land for tourists with 27 Local Governments Areas. They are: Auyo, Babura, Biriniwa, Birnin Kudu, Buji, Dutse, Gagarawa, Garki, Gumel, Guri, Gwaram, Gwiwa, Hadejia, and Jahun. Others are Kafin Hausa, Kangama, Kazawre, Kiri Kasama, Kiyawa, Maigaturi, Malam Madori, Miga, Ringim, Roni, Sule Tarkarkar, Tawra and Yawakwashi.
TRANSPORTATION
Several roads lead to Jigawa State; its borders connect with other northwestern states. The state is also accessible by air. Dutse airport serves the state and it is located 10 kilometers northwest of the state’s capital.

Females should bring along their scarf to cover their heads. Camera and journals to capture and write down the important places of interest is necessary. A cap, hat, or a pair of sunshades is also important to prevent sun burn.
PLACES TO VISIT
You can make a royal visit to the Emir of Dutse’s Palace located at Emir Palace Road, Jigawa. The Palace is a major center of attraction because of its unique and rare blend of indigenous and contemporary architectural design. The Palace is the residence of the traditional head of the Dutse Emirate. The Palace was recently renovated by the present Emir, and it has been a major tourist attraction because of its design and rich display of artful colors and symbols.
The Baturiya Bird Sanctuary, located at Baturiya, Jigawa is a place for lovers of nature. It’s a bird watcher’s dream. The wetland attracts birds from across the globe. It is now recognized by the United Nations as a tourist center of international significance. The bird sanctuary covers an area of 320 sq. kilometer and surrounded by a buffer zone of a half kilometer. It is home to over 300 recorded migratory bird species coming from as far as Europe and Australia.
Other important places of interest include Dutse International Airport, Wawan Rafi Resort, Amaryawa Rock Range, Gwaram Rains, Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, and so on.
