Home base Nigeria is set to still play against Ghana despite being prevented from going to the 2022 Fifa World Cup by their senior team. The two West African countries have been drawn into the same group in Group B of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations. The young Stallions of Burkina Faso are the other team in the group.
The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria and Ghana played 1-1 draw the last time they met in the competition. Group A contains hosts Niger, Ivory Coast, Togo, and Benin. The winners and runners up in each group will qualify for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations to be staged in Egypt.
The Black Satellites of Ghana are the winners of the last one and so are the champions.
The competition will run from May 7 to May 20 in Niamey, Niger Republic.
