Ghana Shock Super Eagles Out of 2022 Fifa World Cup

The Super Eagles of Nigeria Suffered a shocking knock out from their rivals Ghana after playing 1-1 draw. The Super Eagles of Nigeria played out a goalless in the first leg of the qualifier at the Kumasi Baba Yara International Stadium. The goalless draw meant that a goal scoring draw in Nigerian soil will eliminate them from the qualifier.

Ghana opened the scoring from their first shot on target through their skipper Thomas Partey from a far range. The shot was wrongly dealt with by the Super Eagles goalkeeper Zoho. Nigeria came back into the game after Ademola Lookman was fouled in the penalty box and the Video Assistant Referee was consulted, Nigeria skipper Ekong stepped up and leveled the scores for the Eagles.

The two West African teams with into the break on level scores. Ghana is now the first African team to make it to the 2022 Fifa World Cup despite a terrible outing in the just concluded African Cup of Nations performance.

Many said the fault for Nigeria’s loss was because the better players with experience were introduced very late in the game. They will have to wait till the next four years as they are now out of this year’s Fifa World Cup.
