In the English Premier League midweek game between Chelsea and Watford, the game was suspended for half an hour due to a medical emergency in the crowd. According to reports, the referee David Coote called the players off the pitch after 12 minutes of the game. Some fans from both tiers of the Graham Taylor stand at Vicarage Road alerted players to the incident.
Watford with Chelsea Game Suspended Because of Emergency Call from the Fans Stand
The referee David Coote Immediately paused the game when he knew what was happening in the fans stand. People have been asking what happened as this is not the first time such is happening in the English Premier League. It happened about three weeks ago in the Tottenham game with Newcastle United.
When the incident happened, medical staff and stewards were quickly onto the scene in the upper tier. Physios and doctors from both teams attended the incident. It was gathered that a fan had suffered cardiac arrest, but the fan was stabilised due to the medical team’s emergency treatment.
Amazon Prime Video reported that players asked to wait until definitive news on the fan came through before continuing the game. They warmed up for five minutes before the match resumed. The game ended 2-1 in favour of Chelsea, with Mason Mount and Ziyech scoring for Chelsea while Emmanuel Dennis Scored for the home side, Watford.
