Following public outrage over a tweet made by President Muhammadu Buhari, Twitter has deleted the tweet in reaction to calls for the suspension of the President’s account on the platform.
Twitter had earlier said President Buhari’s tweet does not violate its rule. However, EveryEvery.ng, during a visit to Buhari’s handle, noticed that Twitter later deleted the tweet.
Buhari had threatened to deal decisively with those who are fomenting troubles in some parts of the country, adding that those attacking public facilities would receive the shock of their lives.
Twitter Deletes Buhari’s Tweet
Meanwhile, many Nigerians reported the President’s Twitter account, noting that Buhari’s tweet threatened the Indigenous People of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network.
EveryEvery.ng had reported that Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade described the statement credited to President Buhari as far from what is expected from the President.
The singer said the Buhari-led administration is made up of people that feel neglected, unsafe, hungry, hopeless, while some hope that the ruling government would tactically end the unrest in the nation.
Yemi Alade further opined that the tweet is an error and a sign of capital failure of the Buhari-led administration.
Buhari said he received a briefing from the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the series of attacks on their facilities nationwide. He described the attacks as unacceptable.
