Brazilian star forward Vinicius Jr scored the only goal as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in the 2021/22 Uefa Champions League tournament to end Liverpool’s hopes of being crowned champions of Europe for a seventh time. The game ended in heartbreak at the hands of Real Madrid in Paris.
The final started 36 minutes after the scheduled 20:00 BST kick-off due to “security reasons” after pictures emerged in the build-up of huge crowds of fans queuing to get into the Stade de France.
Vinicius Jr Scores the only Goal to Give Real Madrid Victory over Liverpool
Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr, who was played onside by Trent Alexander-Arnold, scored the only goal of the final as Real Madrid sealed a Champions League-La Liga double. Liverpool had several attempts on target but was frustrated by a brilliant goalkeeping display by former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The Belgium shot-stopper who tipped Sadio Mane’s attempt onto the post before keeping out Mohamed Salah late on with a superb one-handed save.
Liverpool who was hoping to end the 2021/22 season with four trophies was only able to win two of the trophies. They beat Chelsea in the finals of both the English F.A Cup and Carling Cup.
The English Premier League side had everything right except for scoring as they had ten shots on target in the first 45 minutes of the game with Real having none. They dominated the game from start to finish but could not find the back of the net.
The only shot on target for Real Madrid was the goal they scored. All Madrid will be singing the praises of the hero of the day Vinicius Jr the goal scorer and course the goalkeeper who is arguably the man of the match. Congratulations to Real Madrid as they win their 14th Uefa Champions League title to make them the champions of Europe.
