Following Yesterday’s Napoli victory over Fiorentina, Super Eagles, striker Victor Osimhen has reacted to the racial abuse he got from Fiorentina fans. The Nigerian released a statement on his Twitter handle urging people to educate others and understand how disgusting racism is.
Victor Osimhen Racially Abused in Seria A Clash with Fiorentina
The insults were heard during the post-match interviews after the Partenopei earned a 2-1 Serie A victory at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Victor Osimhen was not the only Napoli player who heard the abuse. Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly listened to the racist abuse from fans in the stands, which were aimed at him, Osimhen and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
Following the incident, Fiorentina director-general Joe Barone went to apologise to Koulibaly and his teammates personally. Victor Osimhen wrote:” Speak to your kids, your parents, make them understand how disgusting it is to hate an individual because of the colour of their skin.”
Osimhen was once again outstanding for Napoli as they claimed their seventh straight league win. The former Lille striker helped his side get back into the game after being fouled inside the box, which saw the referee point to the penalty spot.
