Capitol Hill reported that Majority Leader of the Senate, Charles Schumer, and Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, are still trying to reach a concensus on the organization of the trial.

The trial has been scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

A senior GOP senator has predicted that the trial could be as early as Friday or Saturday because he thinks that is what both sides probably want, anyway.

The deal sought by McConnell and Schumer would see to it that a timeline for the first phase of the trial is laid out. The first phase includes opening arguments from both the House impeachment managers and Trump’s lawyers.
