Ahead of the 2020 Presidential elections in the United States of America, a former US Vice President, Joe Biden has revealed that he will decide on his running mate by the end of the first week of August.
The presumptive Democratic nominee added that he would pick his running mate at most a week to his initial self-imposed deadline of August 1 for determining his campaign partner.
While speaking with journalists in Wilmington, Biden said he was not sure whether he would be able to meet face-to-face with the women vying to be his running mate, given coronavirus concerns.
He stated this after giving an address on his new economic plan for racial equality stressing that if he does hold interviews, he and any interviewees will have to wear masks if they sit down in person.

Meanwhile, a former Senate majority leader, Harry Reid has urged Biden not to be in haste to announce his running mate noting that there is plenty of time before the election.
About a month ago, Biden had pledged to name a woman to the ticket, and for weeks a team of advisers has been vetting several candidates.
Though he gave no hint about who he might name as his running mate, Biden is under pressure from different sectors of the party to pick either a black woman or a liberal.
