The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has banned men from leaving the country in response to the Russian attack on their soil.
Russia attacked the Ukrainian border communities in the early hours of Thursday, which has led to panic across the nation.
It was reported that flights have been grounded as the Ukrainian military are preparing to defend their nation and counter attack Russia.
Ukraine President Ready to Fight Back
In the videos that surfaced on the internet, citizens are scampering for safety and seeking refuge in neighbouring countries with others seeking safety in refuge tunnels.
In response to this turmoil, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered males between the ages of 18- 60 from leaving the country following the invasion from Russia.
The statement read, “The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports that due to the imposition of martial law in Ukraine, a certain category of citizens is temporarily restricted from leaving Ukraine.”
The Ministry of Interior via their Telegram also announced at midnight, “In particular, male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 are prohibited from leaving Ukraine. This rule will apply for the period of martial law. We ask citizens to take this information into account.”
Zelenskyy announced that any Ukrainian citizen with a passport and willing to fight to come forward, while promising weapons for anyone.
The DPSA said the ban on males leaving the country is to guarantee Ukraine’s defence and organisation of timely mobilization.
