President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has reportedly endorsed Oracle’s rumoured bid to acquire TikTok’s operations in the U.S, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
While speaking during a campaign event in Arizona, Trump described Oracle as a great company as he also expressed support for the company’s billionaire co-founder, Larry Ellison.
At the campaign, Trump noted that Oracle is a great company as he further described the owner as a tremendous person.
While endorsing Oracle, Trump reiterated that the companies have until September 15 to complete the deal.
Trump Supports Oracle
It was gathered that Larry is also a donor to Trump’s campaign and one of the few tech industry executives who have openly expressed support for Trump’s reelection campaign.
According to Forbes, Larry had earlier in February, organized a fundraiser for Trump’s campaign where supporters could pay $100,000 for a golf outing and photo op with the president, though the event led to protests by Oracle employees.
Meanwhile, the company’s planned bid to acquire the TikTok app has raised some questions about why the software company known primarily for its database programs would be interested in buying a video sharing app popular with teenagers.
However, a report by Bloomberg indicates that Oracle may be looking to leverage data from TikTok to build up its cloud-computing and consumer-data businesses.
Aside from Oracle, Microsoft has publicly expressed interest in acquiring TikTok in North American, Australian and New Zealand businesses.
