American fashion designer Thom Browne who is famous for creating the outfit Michelle Obama (picture below) wore at the second swearing in of Barack Obama has showcased his spring/summer 2020 collection.
The gender-bending collection had its roots in sports references, from the brand’s signature shrunken jackets paired with matching seersucker kilts and shorts meshed with codpads to basketballs, footballs and baseballs translated into bags and shoes. These masculine elements are interspersed with more feminine touches including corset inspired tops, skirts of all kinds including drop waist skirts and skirts with wide, padded silhouettes.
Speaking on the collection, Thom Browne said:
“If a guy wants to wear a dress, then he should be able to wear a dress and not care about what people think…Look, men in heels is not for everyone but I think it looks good. It’s just ideas and concepts that make people think a little differently and push [the conversation] forward,”
Here are the looks from the collection. Will you be wearing any of these to church this sunday?
