The Walking dead TV show is based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman, it premiered on AMC in October 2010 instantly became a fan favorite. It gained a massive cult following with countless cosplayers swarming comic con each year as walking dead characters. Now confirmed for season 10 expected later this year. The walking dead has without a doubt beat all odds and retained its spot-on TV even after the surprising exit of its lead actor. The show got a spin off called fear the walking dead in 2005, which followed the earlier days of the zombie Apocalypse.
Since the walking Dead have been in their 9th season, rumors have been lurking around concerning AMC’S interest in making a third spin off show in the franchise, however thanks to AMC, they are rumors anymore. AMC have announced (via EW) that yet another spinoff show is in production, created by Scott M. Gimple and a writer on the original walking dead show and producer Matt Negrete, serving as show runner. The series will reportedly start production on a 10-episode run this summer in Virginia, and it is expected to premiere sometime in 2020
A synopsis for the new show
“[The series] will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grownup and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”
Another spin off show may not be what TWD franchise needs right now. However, it is quite understandable that the studio wants to take such a bold risk. They want actually want to bank on the success of the original TWD and FTWD. Considering the fact that both shows have witnessed a massive drop in ratings mainly because of countless criticism. Viewers claim that both shows are getting repetitive while borrowing plot points from each other. Notwithstanding, the shows still succeeds in raking in a ton of money for the studio.
