AS Roma new signing Tammy Abraham provided two assists to help Roma secure their first win in the Italian Serie A 2021/22 season. Jose Mourinho’s men beat Fiorentina 3-1 as they kick start the league. Fiorentina goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski saw red for a foul on Tammy Abraham in the first 17 minutes.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the opener in the 26th minute of the game, but Nikola Milenkovic equalised for Fiorentina. Nicolo Zaniolo was also sent out after receiving his second yellow card in the game. Tammy Abraham’s low cross was fired in by Jordan Veretout, who also added a neat third to settle the contest.
Tammy Abraham Begins Well in AS Roma
The former Chelsea player could have had a goal but struck the crossbar with a close-range header, with the score still at 1-1. It was the perfect start for Jose Mourinho and Abraham for a welcome return for the Roma fans, attending a game at the Stadio Olympico for the first time since February 2020 after the outbreak of covid.
The former Chelsea star is the star man in the game, and Jose Mourinho has definitely made a perfect choice by choosing him. Mourinho said his strikers must have African origin, which is what he has always done everywhere he went.
When he was with Real Madrid, he signed Emanuel Adebayo even though they had Benzema and Ronaldo. He did the same in Chelsea, Manchester United and Inter Milan. The only club he did not sign a striker of African origin is Tottenham.
