Popular skit maker, Sydneytalker has apologized to his fans on different social media platforms, particularly those who assumed that he wanted to trend on Twitter by calling out the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
It all started in March when he claimed that he did not find it easy to get tested to confirm his health status despite advice by NCDC that Nigerians should go for test if they feel symptoms of Coronavirus.
“I’m scared of my loved ones around me. All I need are answers to understand my predicament and how an average Nigerian can solve this same situation I am currently experiencing Please Help an average Nigerian @ncdcgovget tested #theaveragenigerian #failedhealthcaresystem.
“Thousands of Nigerians probably already have been infected with the virus. They don’t know and if they’re exhibiting symptoms, they can’t even get tested. LUTH closed Doctors are on strike And NCDC will say you should go to the hospital if you’re showing symptoms.
Upon my arrival at the Mainland Hospital, the doctors on the ground reluctantly attended to the case after questioning me.
Good afternoon everyone. I’m sharing my personal experience with our failed healthcare system especially on its inability to respond promptly to this COVID-19 epidemic.”

After several tweets by the comedian, the NCDC responded and claimed that they reached out to him adding that he said his claim was a skit but the comedian later tweeted to counter the agency’s claim
The agency said, “NCDC We received several messages and calls, over an Instagram video. The individual was said to be very sick & reported that NCDC did not respond. We have reached out to him and he said what he did was a SKIT. He is well Pls respect the call and message lines, do not spread panic
Sydneytalker replied “What kind of lie is this??? you didn’t reach out to me and I wasn’t doing a skit. Please all I want is to be tested because the symptoms get worse by the day.
Meanwhile, after many Twitter users called him out to tender the result of the test he eventually went for and created a hashtag to describe him as clout and fraudulent, he posted a screenshot of the result he got after he was tested.
He later clarified the reason for his action and apologized to his fans who assumed that he was seeking attention.
He said, “I didn’t lie I didn’t prank I didn’t chase clout I didn’t do a skit I was only trying to be a concerned citizen which most people interpreted. But still TWITTER NG I’M SORRY
I’M SORRY TO THOSE WHO I’VE OFFENDED WITH MY HEALTH ISSUES AND SPECIALLY TO TWITTER NG. I tried to explain myself on my Instagram live. Please You can check it out, Thank you
I want to also say that nobody should use what I did as an excuse to prank the NCDC. That was not my aim or intention at all. And it will be terrible for anyone to do the same. We must all speak against prank calls and I will join Dr. Olufunmilayo and others to speak against it.
