Sexual workers whose enterprises have been adversely affected by the ongoing lockdown order issued because of the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world, including Nigeria, have asked the government to come to their aid.
This appeal is coming from the Sexual workers in Ondo State, after about 18 of them were arrested by the state’s COVID-19 task force for violating the lockdown order.
Some of them who spoke to journalists in Akure, the State capital, but pleaded anonymity lamented alleged neglect by the government of the State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu during this difficult time.
According to them, they have not been able to lay their hands on the major reason the state government has refused to share its palliative to them, even though the lockdown is affecting all the state residents which include them.
It would be recalled that the State government has issued dusk to dawn curfew in the state which, according to them, is not in the best interest of their business.
