Spanish La Liga side Sevilla has sacked their Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli with the side two points above the La Liga relegation zone. The former Chile and Argentina coach joined Sevilla in October for a second stint in charge.
Sevilla Sacks Jorge Sampaoli
The club has appointed former Eibar manager Jose Luis Mendilibar as their new head coach until the end of the season. Sevilla has lost five of their past seven matches and is currently 14th in the table.

However, they have made it into the quarter-finals of the Europa League and will face Manchester United over two legs next month. Sampaoli’s last game in charge was a 2-0 defeat by fellow strugglers Getafe which leaves them on 28 points with 12 games left.
Mendilibar’s last managerial position was at Deportivo Alaves, where he was sacked after four months with the club at the bottom of La Liga. The 62-year-old was the manager of Eibar from 2015 to 2021.
Mendilibar’s first game in charge will come after the international break and is going to be against 15th-placed Cadiz on Saturday, 1 April.
