Manchester United hero Rio Ferdinand has come out to call for the sack of Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer following their poor run so far. United suffered a 2-0 lose to Manchester City on Saturday as they were condemned to their fourth Premier League defeat of the season.
Rio Ferdinand Comes Hot Against Solsjkaer
Solskjaer’s side looked bereft of ideas against City as their Old Trafford woes continued. Rio Ferdinand, who is one of the people supporting the manager before now, has now come out to say the club should sack the manager. United have now failed to win at home in the Premier League for two months and have been cut five points adrift of the top four.
Solskjaer appears to be staring over the precipice, with the club supposedly considering a number of alternative candidates to take the helm. Rio Ferdinand is not in agreement with fellow ex-star Gary Neville who is advocating for the club to be patient with the manager.
According to the Englishman, he said: “The biggest thing for me is I don’t see a philosophy, I don’t see an identity.” “When I go and see my team, and they get beat, that’s fine it happens. But I want to see what they’re about.” “He’s [Solskjaer’s] done what he was brought in to do. He’s given the fans hope again, made the fans want to come back and watch the team again. He’s done that; he’s done a great job in that sense.”
“But is he going to take us to win titles? Is he going to make us win Champions Leagues? The football club will be living here and breathing longer than any individual.” United is reportedly looking at bringing Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
