Real Madrid players, coaching staffs and all members of the directors have agreed to take 10 to 20% pay cut as the case of coronavirus still loom the streets of Spain. All sporting activities has been long shotdown becuase of the rapid spread of the COVID 19 virus, the country is among the countries with the highest rate of the virus.
Real Madrid as a team came to conclude that the decision to reduce pay was “taken by players, coaches and employees” to avoid “traumatic measures that affect the rest of the workers”. The virus entered the club through their club’s basketball which have also agreed voluntary pay cuts.
Real Madrid said the move was “depending on the circumstances that may affect the closing of the current 2019-20 sports season”. They added that the decision would help mitigate a decrease in income “as a result of the suspension of competitions and the paralysis of a large part of its commercial activities”.
the clubs rival Barcelona late last month announced that thier players would take a 70% pay cut and make additional contributions to help combat the COVID 19 virus in the country. The virus has killed many people already and has also afttected the economy of the world at large, recently former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola lost his 82-years-old mum to the virus.
