Yesterday, the Spanish giants Real Madrid were left to rue their luck in the Uefa Champions League round of 16 Redraw in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Los Blancos were initially drawn with the Portuguese side Benfica before two technical issues caused the initial draw to be void.
The redraw, which confirmed the Madrid side paired with the French giants Paris Saint-Germain, has seen the Real Madrid officials express their displeasure at the turn the draw took.
Real Madrid Draw PSG in UCL Round of 16
The initial draw marred with technical issues involved Manchester United being paired against Villareal despite the two teams qualifying from the same group.
Another ball was picked, which now saw the Red Devils pair PSG and Villareal, Manchester City, though a mistake was not spotted by the officials when the red side of Manchester was left out of the pot before Atletico Madrid was called.
After the round of 16 ties was confirmed, the Spanish side drew Bayern Munich but had the football governing body review the outcome.
The Santiago Bernabeu side felt their initial draw should not have been affected by the technical issue since their team was not involved in the pot.
The Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said categorically that he was opposed to the redraw immediately it was proposed.
Real Madrid has met Paris Saint-Germain side six times in the Uefa competition, won thrice, was drawn twice and lost once.
However, with the french side signing Lionel Messi for free in the summer, things could be more difficult for the Blancos, as he has a history playing against them with their arch-rivals Barcelona.
