Real Madrid Returns to Winning Ways as they Beat Inter
Inter Milan’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League were dealt a huge blow as Real Madrid claimed a 2-0 win over them in their stadium. The game could be said it was due to Arturo Vidal first-half red card, he was shown two yellow cards by the referee finally gave a red in the half of the game.
Former Chelsea player Eden Hazard converted an early spot kick for Real Madrid to hand his side the lead before Achraf Hakimi scored an own goal to double the lead. The Italians are now at the bottom of Group B with just two points from four games.
The win for Zinedine Zidane’s men moves the thirteen-time European champions up into second place in the group, one point behind leaders Borussia Monchengladbach. Gladbach cruised to a 4-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the earlier kick-off, scoring three first-half goals to boost their hopes of qualifying top of the group.
It is now a very tough time for Inter Milan as it will be a big task to reach the knockout stages as they are at the bottom of the table. Inter Milan remain winless in this year’s competition and in severe danger of continuing their run of not reaching the knockout stages since 2011-12.
For Zidane’s Real Madrid, back-to-back victories over Inter this month have edged the Spanish side closer to qualifying for the last 16 for a record 25th time.
