Raheem Sterling has paid for 550 kids from his old school to go watch Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Sterling, who grew up near Wembley, has made the classy gesture to allow hundreds of students from the Ark Elvin Academy to watch one of their former pupils in action.
The 24 year old reportedly stunned staff at the Etihad Stadium when he made the request to buy the huge number of tickets.
He is also set to provide transport to give the kids an unforgettable afternoon.
A source said, “Raheem asked for 550 tickets for the game, which he paid for himself. It must have cost a fair bit. He wanted to do something for the kids from his old school and he is also laying on transport for them. It pretty much sums up the kind of guy he is. He hasn’t made a fuss over it and he doesn’t really want attention. It’s just a decent thing to do.”
After moving to London from Jamaica as a five year old, Sterling was brought up on the St Raphael’s estate in Wembley.
The England star has enjoyed a stunning season for Manchester City in the title race as they look to keep their hopes alive at the weekend.
