Following the exploit of Japan in the ongoing Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup, the Asian country has acquired a new title in the tournament. Their first game in Group E was against Germany and they came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 and surprise the whole world. Germany who was one of the favourites to win the World Cup suffered their first loss at the hands of Japan.
The Asian country went on to play against Costa Rica who were early beaten by Spain 7-0 the heaviest defeat in the history of Spain’s World Cup outing. Costa Rica banned back from that loss to beat Japan 1-0 putting three countries in Group E on the same points except for Germany. They played Spain in the last leg of the group and surprisingly picked up all three points from the encounter.
Why Japan is called the Comeback Kings
They were one goal down from the first half of the game after Atletico Madrid forward Alvaro Morata put Spain in front. The Asian side came back in the second half looking different as they second an equaliser just three minutes into the second half, not from that time they scored a second goal that took them automatically to the top of Group E.
After the game, they pull through while Costa Rica and Germany exited the tournament, following their win they were named by the fans as the “COMEBACK KING” of the tournament. They came from one goal down against Germany to win 2-1 and they did the same thing against Spain making them the first to do so in this tournament.
