President Muhammadu Buhari has advised African leaders to embrace good neighbourliness among themselves.
Buhari, who gave the advise while playing host to President Patrice Talon of the Republic of Benin on Tuesday noted that the survival of each country in Africa depends on the other.
President Buhari in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina said his administration will continue to work with other African countries.
However, he recalled that one of the first steps he took on the assumption of office in 2015 was to visit neighbouring countries.
Buhari Advises African Leaders
Buhari disclosed that he visited Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Benin to forge a common understanding of crucial issues, including security, trade and development.
He opined that security, trade and development are issues which African leaders need to continue to engage on, for the good of their countries and the people.
Reacting, President Talon said he was in Nigeria to show gratitude to President Buhari for the robust leadership he displays in Nigeria and Africa.
President Talon noted that the challenges of 2020 were enormous, hence, the need for a cordial relationship with Nigeria.
