The Championship club Nottingham Forest has sent Premier League side Leicester City out of the English FA cup.
Leicester City the reigning champion of the competition had a day to forget after they were thumped by 4 goals to 1 by the ‘reds’.
Nottingham Forest sits 8th in the championship league table and continued their impressive run in the cup games after defeating Arsenal in the first round of the competition.
The Reds showed themselves as a challenger after going three goals up in the space of 9 minutes in the first half against Leicester
Philip Zinckernagel opened the scoring for Steven Reid’s side in the 23rd minute and a minute later, Brennan Johnson doubled their lead, followed by Joe Worrall’s goal that made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute.
The Foxes were stunned by the quick goals, but the Nigerian striker who just returned from the African Cup of Nations Kelechi Iheanacho scored a consolation goal in the 40th minute.
The 2nd half resumed with the effort from the Foxes hoping to stage a comeback at the City Ground but it was dashed in the 61st minute as Diop Spence grabbed the fourth goal to seal the hosts’ victory.
Nottingham Forest has drawn a home tie against Huddersfield in the 5th round and would hope to continue their impressive run.
