As Nigeria moves towards obtaining 5G Network, the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has laid out some of the new global wireless project’s capabilities.
NITDA stated that the network could drive the globe towards the fourth industrial revolution and promote emerging technologies that will create more jobs and improve the country’s economy.
As a panellist, NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, communicated the message while discussing ‘the evolution of 5G networks and Internet of things, IoT in Africa’ at the 2021 Virtual Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition.

For clarity, 5G Network is the fifth generation technology standard for broadband cellular connections, which mobile phone companies started deploying worldwide in 2019.
Meanwhile, NITDA Boss hinted that the agency is currently active on its ‘Strategic Road Map and Action Plan 2021 – 2024’ and have identified the need to promote and exploit techs like Artificial Intelligence, AI, Robotics, Internet of things, among other developments.
Inuwa, represented by the Acting Director, Digital Economic Development, Mr Salisu Kaka, explained that the agency is committed to implementing Nigerian Digital Economy Policy and Strategic Plans.
Among other innovations, NITDA Boss revealed his agency would soon embark on a project named ‘National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture, NAVSA, solely to support the merging of emerging technologies into the Agric Sector.
