Well on the way to 21,000 independent cases, the new Coronavirus cases in Nigeria seems to be at an all-time rise with Lagos, FCT and Kano being the cities with the highest number of cases respectively.
Many expected this rise in numbers as the people began going about their daily hustle and businesses started running again.
Given the recent spread of the virus disguised as a “new strain of malaria”, the Federal Ministry Of Health and the NCDC urge Nigerians to take responsibility for their health and safety.
In the last Presidential Task Force Briefing on Covid-19, The Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu said, “We simply have to take responsibility for the three interventions that are in our hands.
Around masks, mass gathering and hand washing, that a church or a mosque decides to open don’t make it compulsory for you to attend, attendance is still a personal choice.
New Coronavirus Cases
That a supermarket in Abuja decides to do a concert, doesn’t make it compulsory for people to attend.
Yes, there will be circumstances where it will be difficult to make those choices but in things that are leisure, those are the things we will have to make some personal sacrifices around and even when airlines open and travel opens we all have to think very hard how important is that trip?
He also added that the Ministry of Education had a very tough choice to make in ensuring citizens safety as education is important for our children.
He ended by saying “the health of each of us is dependent on the actions that each of us will take over the next few months.”
We, at Everyevery.ng implore Nigerians to adhere to the safety measures to curb the spread of the virus. Stay safe.
