NCDC Guidelines
After the Federal Government eased the ban on religious gathering on June 2, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has released guidelines for the reopening of religious centres across the nation.
1 . Worship centres should be disinfected before and after every gathering.
2. The NCDC is requesting for the religious centres to be marked to ensure that the two meters required for social distancing is maintained.
3 . Activities that would encourage physical or direct contact should be totally avoided.
4. No worshipper without wearing a face mask should not be allowed into the worship centres. All worshippers and Worship leaders should have the face mask on through out the gathering.
5 . Sick people should not be allowed into worship centres.
6 . The temperature of worshippers should be checked before being allowed to enter the worship centres.
7 . Spots for hand washing and hand sanitising should be made available at entries and strategic points for worshippers.
8. The worship centres should not be filled to capacity, therefor attendance at religious settings should only be at one-third of the sitting capacity.
9. Activities that would give room to sharing of items or materials should be avoided or limited. For instance, ablution should be done at home.
10 . Handshakes, hugging among other forms of showing pleasantries should be avoided.
These new NCDC guidelines are said to be geared towards ensuring safe public gatherings which could further spread the rampaging COVID-19 in Nigeria.
The NCDC stressed that large gatherings such as religious and non- religious gatherings have been discovered to be main spots where the deadly COVID-19 virus was spread in most countries where the virus has wrecked havoc.
