Some Niger Delta Militants under the Umbrella of the 21st Century Youths of the Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience have issued a 30-day ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
The militants want Buhari to intervene over the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) refusal to vacate the property of Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.
In a statement by the group’s Coordinator, General Izon Ebi, the militants also want the EFCC to unfreeze Tompolo’s accounts.
According to Ebi, the militants threatened to mobilize youths and women to occupy Tompolo’s properties if EFCC refuses to vacate the property in 30 days.

However, the group accused the anti-graft agency of disobeying a valid court judgment which acquitted Tompolo of wrongdoings.
The militants noted that the ultimatum became necessary to avoid another round of unrest and agitations in the Niger Delta region.
Meanwhile, the group recalled that a roundtable discussion was held between governors from the Niger Delta region, traditional rulers, and stakeholders in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to douse tensions in the region.
