Newly appointed Napoli head coach Luciano Spalleti has admitted to the qualities of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen. The manager said that Osimhen would be an essential player for his team when the 2021/22 season starts. Osimhen joined the Italian Serie A side from French Ligue 1 side Lille last summer following an impressive debut campaign in the French top-flight.

The Nigeria international scored ten goals in 24 appearances in his first season at Napoli despite missing 24 games due to a combination of the shoulder injury and covid-19 positive test and a head injury. Luciano Spalletti sees remarkable qualities in the 22-year-old Nigerian striker.
The manager is willing to help the Super Eagles forward improve in the protection of the ball. He said” “Osimhen knows how to score goals,’ said the boss who has vowed to make the Nigerian a better striker.” He said: ‘He (Osimhen) has excellent qualities and will be as important to the team as Mertens and Petagna.’
The manager’s comment now means Osimhen will not be leaving the club soon as the club has been coming for the player. English Premier League side Tottenham hoped they would use him to replace Harry Kane when the English man finally leaves.
