Nigerians have been victims of police brutality for a long time and the time to end it seems to have come. The number of lives lost to this bloodshed is long, but the names of the victims will not be forgotten with Nigerians calling for a complete list.
Here are some of the names of the innocent Nigerians who unfortunately have been wasted in the hands of the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
Ifeoma Abugu
Report shows that the 20 years-old National Youth Service Corps member was arrested in place of her Fiancee at his residence in Lokogoma, Abuja. Unfortunately she was said to have died in SARS custody.
Tiyamiu Kazeem
Kazeem in a promising Nigerian footballer who was killed during an attempt by SARS officers to forcefully arrest him. Eyewitness report shows that the 21 years old was he died on February 24, 2020 when he was bushed to the ground by the officers and he was unfortunately ran over by an oncoming vehicle.
Onovo Matthew
Matthew’s story is another sad tale of Nigerian police brutality, the 22 years old student was killed in July 2008. He was shot dead by the officers who claimed that he was an armed robber against and eyewitness report that maintained that he was actually unarmed when he was shot dead.
Kolade Johnson
Kolade’s live was cut short by a SARS officer while another person who was accused of looking like an internet fraudster. He was unfortunate to be a victim of the bullet of trigger happy SARS officer.
For going to watch a match out side his home, the father of one was wasted and handed over to the hands of death.
Ishaq Jimoh
Jimoh was recently killed in Ogbomoso in Oyo State, during the #EndSARS protest. He was last seen standing by the road side to catch a glimpse of the protest only to be shot by a straying bullet of a police officer.
His death is one of the latest of the several recorded by officers of the Nigerian police officers. He was buried hours after his death on October 9, 2020.
Another Nigerian lady posted her picture on Twitter where she indicated that she was shot by a straying bullet fired by officer and have been confined to a wheelchair for over 10 years.
The lady show could not physically join the #EndSARS protest did a solo show in her house stating that she was shot in 2008.
