The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has given an update on the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU noting that the union will call off the strike very soon.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony for the reconstituted Federal Government team for the renegotiation of the 2009 agreements with ASUU, the Minister disclosed that the federal government has already made significant progress in its negotiation with ASUU.
Update On ASUU Strike
According to him, all outstanding issues that led to the 9 months of industrial action in public Universities will soon be resolved so normal academic activities can resume.
Reacting to the 2009 agreements between the government and ASUU, Adamu explained that there is a need for certain clauses to be re-examined. He said the clauses will be re-examined for all stakeholders to be on the same page and reposition public university education in Nigeria.
Giving update on ASUU strike, Adamu emphasized the need for all hands to be on deck to restore the confidence reposed in university education by students, parents, and the general public.
However, it was gathered that Professor Emeritus Munzali Jibril will lead the Federal Government team for the renegotiation while the membership of the team is categorized into substantive members, advisers and observers.
