A Medical Doctor has gone missing in Abia State, precisely over a week ago and is still unaccounted for, and the authorities are yet to establish any contacts with his abductors to know whether he is still alive or otherwise.
The incident has prompted the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, to sound an alarm over their missing colleague for the security operatives to commence a search and rescue mission so as to guarantee the safe return of Dr Uwadinachi Iweha.

Though the Association is decrying the inability of the security agencies to rescue the Doctor as it issued a statement in regards to the matter, expressing how the NMA had been following the development until they see the release of their colleague.
The association urged the security agencies to redouble their effort in securing the release of the doctor from captivity.

NMA Seeks for Laws Protecting Medical Doctors
The statement signed by its president, Dr Uche R. Ojinmah, pointed out to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, to carry out thorough investigation and ensure they formulate policies to assure the protection of medical doctors in the country.
He explained that there’s already a shortage of doctor’s in the country, adding that the kidnapping of medical professionals is only making things worst as Nigeria already has limited hands to cater for patients.
He said, “We have noted the spirited efforts by our Abia State branch to secure his release which has, for now, yielded no fruit.”
