Former Espanyol and Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to take Manchester United managerial role. It is not out of the question they could get the Paris St-Germain boss now. The Argentine is held in high regard at Old Trafford, but there was a feeling it might be challenging to snatch him away from Paris St-Germain mid-season.
Mauricio Pochettino Eyes United Coaching Deal
Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning following a consistent poor result from the team. The climax of their losses came on Saturday when Watford thrashed them 4-1. It is not thought Manchester United have approached yet. Still, the 49-year-old is less than completely happy with the setup at PSG, where his role is essentially that of first-team coach, with all broader club and footballing issues handled by sporting director Leonardo.
Mauricio Pochettino enjoyed more control during his five years in charge of Tottenham and is keen on returning to the Premier League. The Argentine has constantly made it known that he would like a return to the English Premier League as that is where he likes. Although he is still in Paris, his family is still in London.
The former Southampton boss has been in charge of PSG for ten months, and this season, they are 11 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table after playing 14 games and a point behind Manchester City in their Champions League group. Mauricio Pochettino will be in Manchester this week for his team’s game against the Premier League champions.
The Argentine seems not happy at the club as he is only an advisor to Leonardo. He said most of the signings made by the club was not needed, including the signing of Europe best player Dunnaroma. Manchester United could strike a deal with the manager and sign him hopefully before the year runs out.
