Inmates in the late hours of Friday escaped from an OyoState jail with the help of some unidentified gunmen who attacked and breached the prison yard.
It was reported that the attackers freed dozens from the prison in the Southern part of Nigeria, amounting to the third consecutive successful jailbreak in the country.
The Spokesman of the Oyo correctional centre in the state, Olanrewaju Anjorin, hinted that investigation into the incident is ongoing, revealing the extent of damage has begun.
He said there is uncertainty at the moment ascertaining the headcount on the prisoners that have absconded from their confinements.

Ajorin, however, noted that some other escapees had been recaptured while the security outfit had put in efforts to reinforce vigilance in the area.
The spokesperson stressed that a handful of security facilities, especially police stations, have been attacked similarly in the past year.
Meanwhile, an official of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Francis Enobore, reported that he was just on his way to the crime scene, adding that there’s not much gathered so far.
