Manchester United have joined Chelsea in the chase for France player Jules Kounde who plays for Spanish La Liga side Sevilla. The Premeir League side is ready to trigger the £69m release clause for the defender. The 22-year-old has been one of the most coveted centre-backs in the world in recent times after impressing for Sevilla since joining in July 2019.

A number of big European clubs have made their interest known, with Chelsea already having a £42.5m bid knocked back in the summer window. Sevilla is unwilling to release the player, but they might just let him go with the buyout clause.
According to reports, the La Liga side is worried United is prepared to spend big on Kounde in the January window to further strengthen their defence. Over the past few weeks, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shifted to a three-person reason and is supposedly looking to partner Kounde with Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.
Manchester United have conceded 17 goals in 11 Premier League games this season. They have only kept one clean sheet since the start of the season.
