The Super Eagles first-choice Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye conceded four goals on his return to his club after a disappointing African Cup of Nations. His side Sparta Rotterdam were trashed 4-0 in Sunday’s Eredivisie encounter. The game was played at De Kuip and it was the Nigerian first game since returning from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria crashed out in the Round of 16.

Maduka Okoye was named in the starting XI as Henk Fraser’s men went into the game with the aspirations of ending their nine-match winless run, but the hosts had other ideas. Feyenoord began the game on a bright note as Orkun Kokcu put his side ahead just four minutes into the game.
Seven minutes later, they scored a second through Alireza Jahanbakhsh, they need the first half of the game two goals down. They resumed the second half hoping to get back into the game but it became worse as Guus Til increased the lead for the hosts. The player soon scored his brace with 20 minutes left to play.
Speaking about the victory Fynood head coach Arne Slot said he is delighted with his team’s result and described it as one of their best matches of the 2021-22 campaign. According to him, he said: “I thought it was impressive to see how good we were at this stage of the game.”
Following the loss, Maduka Okoye’s side Sparta Rotterdam occupies the 17th position having garnered 14 points from 21 matches. They will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways against Willem II on February 13.
