Luka Modric has signed a new contract with Real Madrid, the club president Florentino Perez said on Thursday.
Perez did not give any details of the deal with the 35-year old Croatian, who joined Real from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012. But it is believed that he has signed a one-year extension to his already existing but soon to expire deal.
Luka Modric pens new Real Madrid deal, Sergio Ramos to stay, or not
He said the club was yet to reach an agreement with Sergio Ramos but expressed hope that the club captain would remain at the Bernabeu.
Perez said Ramos’ continuation is a question of resources, with the Spanish club losing money and unsure of its future budget.
“It doesn’t depend on him, it depends on Real Madrid’s situation,” Perez added.
Sergio Ramos has been rumoured to be ready to move to another club in the summer, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-German linked with the Spaniard.
