The lockdown order in some states across Nigeria has entered the fourth week, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic in interrupting the lives of everyone and at this point, I can say there is no hunger in the country anymore.
Before Coronavirius invaded our land, there has been hunger in the land, and other countries of the world, even developing countries like ours pity some Nigeria residents because of the level of hunger and starvation we cope with daily.
Thousands of Nigerians have lived as refugees at the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP Camps across right in their fatherland.
They scavenge every day as they watch their children from into malnourished adults whose skeletal frame bones you can count conveniently at a distance.
Insurgency and the avoidable farmers/ herders clash did more damage to the survival of Nigerians, and as if that we not enough, Coronavirus rudely interrupted and nailed the coffin.
Hunger Turns Anguish In Nigeria
Before this pandemic, hunger was boldly written on the faces of most Nigerians though we were suffering and smiling, now there is no more hunger in the land because it has turned into anguish.
The hunger has changed form and name; it has transcended into anguish. Those who could manage to get a meal a day now has nothing to bite with no source to lean on.
The hope of many has been eroded in the face of a stubborn pandemic, and full-grown adults now go around in anguish begging for palliative.
Government at different levels claims to care for their people by sharing food items not worthy for animals.
The social distancing and lockdown order have been violated and might continue to be as people’s anguish grow by the day. What is death when anguish has already set in?
What is there to fear in Coronavirus and subsequent deaths when hunger, starvation, poverty and anguish has signed death warrants of families just waiting for a mass burial?
There are speculations that the lockdown order might again be extended, the Kaduna State government has already taken the lead with a 30-day straight extension. What will be left of the lives of the people, if and when the pandemic subsides?
How many lives would have been handed over to hunger for laughter in a bid to safe them from Coronavirus?
With all said, people are still contacting the virus; many are losing their lives to it, few are snatching their lives back and sharing their testimonies.
Let’s all hang on and see you after its safe to hang around and talk some more.
