The Citizens are in a heavy injury crisis. Their defensive line has been porous and most of the goals they have conceded are due to defensive errors. They have been without their best defender, Aymeric Laporte, and goalkeeper Ederson they simply could not cope at times. The result meant that Liverpool equaled the English top-flight record of 11 wins and a draw after 12 matches. They did the same the last time they won the title in 1990, so could this be another road to glory?
The Citizens were stunned by two goals in the first fourteen-minute of the game, the third came in the second half of the game. The first came from Brazilian midfielder Fabinho in the 6th minute followed by Mohamed Salah’s goal seven minutes after the first goal. Sadio Mane was not left out of the scoring as he registered his 7th goal of the season from Jordan Henderson’s cross.
Referee Denied City Two Penalties
Was denied two penalties in the game, it looks like it was all over for the visitors until Benardo Silva stroke what seems to be a comeback. The goal became just a consolation goal for the visitors as it was the only goal scored by the away team. Raheem Sterling was not happy with the decisions of the referees and also the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), the player was furious with their decisions.
Pep Guardiola Still Not Disturbed With The Awful Result
Pep Guardiola has said he won’t say anything about the controversies in the game. The manager has said even before the game that he is not in support of VAR so just maybe that’s why its not working for him. Guardiola said: “What happened today is that we showed why we are the champions,”. “I am so proud, so proud, we played so well.”
When asked about the early penalty shout against Alexander-Arnold arm, he said: “Ask the referees”. We’re not getting any more than that, with Guardiola refusing to elaborate further. “I am so polite, I did not say anything here,”
