Jurgen Klopp‘s side suffered first defeat of the season to Napoli in their first-leg Champions League match on Tuesday. Mertens and Llorente were on the score sheet to see Napoli pass Liverpool with a home win of 2-0. Robertson tripped Joe Callejon in the penalty box, which resulted in the first goal. The second scored by Fernando Llorente after a rare defensive error by Virgil van Dijk.
Another defeat in Naples in another European tournament. Jurgen Klopp has not won a match against this side in his last meetings with them. Liverpool became the first Champions League holders to open their defense with a defeat after Milan in 1994. Liverpool will again have to bounce back from an away loss to Napoli this year.

Klopp’s View of the Penalty
Although Liverpool did better than they did the last time they met. Klopp had said it was a disappointing start for them, we could have done better. Jurgen Klopp was frustrated by what he saw to be a “clear and obvious” mistake on the penalty call. The manager was upset with the referee’s decision.
Liverpool coach also said his team could have done better. “Mistakes have been, and are still being made and we can’t change that now. But we have to be very critical with ourselves in the next game”. The England side failed to take revenge for the defeat they suffered in Italy to the same side in their last Champions League triumph.
Napoli for Champions League Glory
Klopp has admitted that the Italian giant can lift the Champions League trophy; they have a good plan and a good team too. Carlo Ancelotti has said, “if Jurgen Klopp says we have the ability to win the Champions League then it is fine. He is an experienced coach and knows football inside out”.
Ancelotti also said there is still a long way to go and his first objective is to qualify from the group stage first. The former Real Madrid coach said nothing when asked about the penalty. The two goals came from curious and unusual circumstances but am happy we won.
