It was a good weekend for Kelechi Iheanacho as his exploits for Leicester City saw his team through to the FA Cup semifinals and saw the player rub shoulders with and even surpass some legends of the English game.
Iheanacho continues impressive scoring run
The Nigerian striker scored twice in the FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester United at the King Power Stadium, leading the Foxes to a 3-1 victory.
With his goals in the game, he broke the record set by Didier Drogba for the most goals scored by an African in the FA Cup. The Ivorian legend scored 12, and the 24-year-old Nigerian now has 13.
He also equalled Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes’s records of 13 FA Cup goals.
The in-form Nigerian is now the only player after Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero to have scored 20 or more goals in domestic cup competitions since his Manchester City debut in August 2015, with 13 FA cup goals and 8 league cup goals.
Iheanacho now has a direct hand in 15 goals in his 15 starts across all competitions this season, with 11 goals and 4 assists. https://everyevery.ng/kelechi-iheanacho-achieves-milestone-for-leicester/
