Popular Igbo Highlife artiste, Prince Morocco Maduka has passed away on at the age of 73.
Maduka died on Thursday, October 29, and the tragic news was announced by the Anambra state chapter of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).
Prince Morocco Maduka until his death is the oldest performing Igbo highlife musician. ‘Ozonweluibe’ as he is fondly called started his career at the age of 14.
He recently celebrated his 60 years on stage, an illustrious career which has got him fans worldwide.
Anambra State chapter of PMAN announced his death on their Facebook page.
Part of the statement by PMAN reads, “With heavy heart of sorrow…
“We the entire Anambra state PMAN announce the exit of a music Legend (Dr Prince Morroco Maduka…..Ozonweluibe).
According to the statement released, other arrangements as regards his burial will be communicated subsequently.
Prince Morocco Maduka was born in Ukwulu, Anambra State. He is famous for the Ekpili genre and has songs like ‘Asiri 98′, ‘Ife Oma’, ‘Akalaka‘.
