Erling Haaland had his fans talking as he took his international goals tally to 18 in 19 games after Norway beat Sweden 2-1 to top Nations League group B4 with two wins out of two. The new Manchester City forward, who will arrive at the English Premier League side this summer, scored the opener for his country from the penalty spot after a foul on Morten Thorsby.
Erling Haaland Scores two in Norway Win over Sweden
Haaland doubled Norway’s lead with a well-taken low finish after the break. Sweden later got a goal but when Dejan Kulusevski set up Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga but the goal only became a consolation goal in added time. He is probably the player who could break the goals record of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as his goal record for his country has been very impressive.
The Norwegians top the group on six points ahead of their first home game against bottom side Slovenia on Thursday, while the Swedes host second-placed Serbia, who beat the Slovenians 4-1. They have now won four games on the bounce since failing to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year. Erling Haaland has now scored 40 goals in just 37 matches for club and country since the start of last season.
